BPSON National Conference 2016
The subject for our 2016 national conference was Bereavement Support for Bereaved Parents and Families in a Digital Age – ‘Facing the Challenges’ and took place on Friday 17th June at Warwick University.
The event was organised by BPSON Chairman Mike Coulson and Vice Chair Diana Youdale with help from other members of the steering committee.
The day started with an inspirational presentation by Dr Elaine Kasket, pictured here with Mike Coulson. This challenged the 35 delegates attending from over 20 different organisations and charities to consider many aspects of dealing with digital legacy issues and the provision of bereavement support through social media.
The day progressed with group discussions and practical examples on different aspects of providing support via social media, bringing into play the positives as well as the pitfalls.
Feedback from the delegates on Elaine’s presentation and having the opportunity to network with others working in the field of supporting bereaved parents was extremely positive, and definitely one to be repeated!
“Very well presented, knowledgeable & inspirational, Practical, common sense, good advice & expanded my thinking too!”
“Absolutely fab and thought provoking.”
“Interesting & provided further insight into different roles & perspectives.”
“Really inspiring – made me think from a professional & personal perspective.”
